Change is Not Easy

2016 has been a year of change, new beginnings and fresh starts.  Some of the changes were easy to make and a long-time coming, but others were painful and more difficult.  I won't bore you with all the details.

In February, we decided to close the Lewis store and combine it with the SoBo store.  It was one of the best decisions we have ever made.  We realized at the end of 2015 that something we loved was turning into work and we were losing our joy.  We ran the numbers and it was too close to call, so we let God do the picking.  He's a great picker.  We literally picked up the Lewis store and put it inside the SoBo store.  Not to brag, but it looks pretty fabulous.

In the words of Socrates, "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new."  If I have learned nothing else this year, it is that you cannot hold on to the past.  No matter how tight your grasp, sometimes you just need to let go and move forward in search of your joy.  Never underestimate joy.

If there is something that brings you great joy and would make you sad to let it go, fight for it, but know when it's time to retreat.  This silly sign is from the Lewis store.  Hours of creative efforts were involved in making this baby a reality.  When we closed the Lewis store, letting it go just hurt my heart.  I would drive by the store and look at it on my way home every night.  I just couldn't let go of this treasure from the past.

Last night, this Posh sign was installed inside of the SoBo store as a work of art and a daily reminder that your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.  Remember, growth happens in the valleys.
